Berlin Wall

A passport is a travel document, usually issued by a country‘s government, that certifies the identity and nationality of its holder for the purpose of international travel.[1] Standard passports may contain information such as the holder’s name, place and date of birth, photograph, signature, and other identifying information. Passports are moving towards including biometric information in a microchip embedded in the document, making them machine-readable and difficult to counterfeit.[1]

Passport stamp to the east side

German Democratic Republic created the Berlin Wall on August 13 1961 to divide the entire city centre of Berlin.  The walls were erected within a few days. They made it to prevent East Berliners and citizens of East Germany to go to the West Side. The wall was not enough to stop fleeing and dying of people at this “death strip”, so the ruling, Communist Party in East Germany created more border fortification to the wall.

There were nine possible crossing between East and West Berlin of which, the Checkpoint Charlie is in the Friedrichstrasse maybe the most known. It was restricted to Allied personnel and foreigners.

West Germans and other citizens had the opportunity to visit East Germany after applying for a visa. On the contrary, West Berliners couldn’t visit East Berlin or East Germany between August 26 1961 and December 17 1963, and afterwards only in certain occasions (like Christmas).  East Berliners and East Germans could not travel to West Berlin or West Germany until the fall of the Wall. On certain occasions, some exceptions were made.

Fleeing over this wall was not easy. The inner sides of the wall were painted white, the wall was lit up brightly in the night, and at some areas, dogs were watching for fugitives. The armed border soldiers watched from the watchtowers placed some 250 meters apart and had the “order to shoot” at fugitives. This created a great number of victims of this “death strip”. It is estimated that some 139 people connected with the East German regime and more than 250 travellers and an unknown number of other victims died in the period from 1961 and 1989.

The downfall of East Germany in 1989 and the opening of the Wall on November 9th 1989 ended this horrible period in history.  On October 3rd 1990, German reunification took place.

Soldier of Fortune

The best song ever… something like a soundtrack of my life… it hurts every single time ….

Deep Purple – Soldier Of Fortune

Soldier Of Fortune

I have often told you stories
About the way
I lived the life of a drifter
Waiting for the day
When I’d take your hand
And sing you songs
Then maybe you would say
Come lay with me love me
And I would surely stay

But I feel I’m growing older
And the songs that I have sung
Echo in the distance
Like the sound
Of a windmill goin’ ’round
I guess I’ll always be
A soldier of fortune

Many times I’ve been a traveller
I looked for something new
In days of old
When nights were cold
I wandered without you
But those days I thougt my eyes
Had seen you standing near
Though blindness is confusing
It shows that you’re not here

Now I feel I’m growing older
And the songs that I have sung
Echo in the distance
Like the sound
Of a windmill goin’ ’round
I guess I’ll always be
A soldier of fortune
Yes, I can hear the sound
Of a windmill goin’ ’round
I guess I’ll always be
A soldier of fortune

The Crown Chakra Colour

My first association on Purple was the Crown Chakra Colour image

The story about chakras …

The seven chakra symbols of the core body and what they represent.

  1. Base or Root Chakra (last bone in spinal cord *coccyx*)
  2. Sacral Chakra (ovaries/prostate)
  3. Solar Plexus Chakra (navel area)
  4. Heart Chakra (heart area)
  5. Throat Chakra (throat and neck area)
  6. Brow or Third Eye Chakra (pineal gland or third eye)
  7. Crown Chakra (Top of head)

The crown is purple, the spirituality, the highest energy and the shortest link to the universe. A list of all chakras is well explained here. But I like the pictures and explanations so I will repeat it 🙂

Asanas, Sounds, Colors, and Gems

While silence is the most powerful and important way to opening the seventh chakra, there are some other practices that support this chakra.

Two Pranayama breathing techniques you can do before meditation include Nadi Shodhana, or alternate nostril breathing, and Kapalabhati, or the skull shining breath.

Inverted yoga asanas such as headstand (Salamba Sirsasana) and down dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana) can help stimulate the seventh chakra, as well as any posture that brings the crown of the head to the floor such as fish pose (Matsyasana).

The color for the crown chakra is violet or white and the mantra sound is the universal sound of OM. Gems you can wear or have in your environment to help open and align the seventh chakra are amethyst, selenite, and sugilite.

….as explained elsewhere… Symbiosis is…

One version of symbiosis is the relationship of certain birds and hippopotami. In this relationship, the birds are well known for preying on parasites that feed on each hippopotamus which are potentially harmful for the animal.

To that end, this hippopotamus openly invites the birds to hunt on its body, even going so far as to open its jaws to allow the birds to enter the mouth safely to hunt.

For the birds’ part, this relationship not only is a ready source of food, but a safe one considering that few predators would dare strike at the bird at such close proximity to its host.

A little anegdote..

I was walking throught the Berlin Zoo and enjoyed the animals. I like to think that zoo are not the prisons, but a place where animals have fun. So, I cam to the place with hippopotami and (don’t know why) tried to communicate with one soul.

Maybe it was my immagination, or they are trained like this… but this little one hippo really talked to me… I like to think that he/she even gave me a happy kiss.

I spent two hours running up and down near the pool and this little soul followed me all the time. On every my gentle knock on the pool window he/she came and kind of a kiss me….making me happy… maybe I did communicate with this beautiful animal, or?

Here is the Berlin zoo hippo:
